F.A.Q.

  • What is selective electroplating?

Enhancing distinct areas of a coin or medal to accentuate the artistic design elements.

  • How does your process work?

A reusable silicone polymer mask is used to encapsulate the coin while in the plating solution, plating only the areas you choose. Afterword the mask lifts away, leaving your coin clean and beautiful. Each mask can be reused 500-1000 times.

  • How much do your masks cost?

We do not sell our masking technology- we partner with you to facilitate each project. We supply masks, clamps, and other equipment to achieve your mintage goals. We charge a royalty based on coins that you successfully bring to market.

  • What products does your process work on?

Our masks are extremely precise, so the pieces they work on must be consistent. Die-struck coins and medals allow this repeatability, while cast or hand-finished pieces do not.

  • What designs can you plate?

We offer a wide range of intricacy, ranging from total-plate to fine accents. Select plating can be used on the obverse and reverse, and rims can be either masked or plated. Please see our Gallery for examples. Email us your design, and we’ll be happy to consult with you on the enhancements possible!

  • What size projects can you handle?

Our process is most efficient for mintages over 1,000 and has easily been scaled to complete projects in the hundreds of thousands.
